STUDIO KNITTING MACHINES CANADA – (Singer – Silver Reed) Ballistol Aircraft

BALLISTOL AND AIRCRAFT

Helicopters and fixed wing aircraft have a constant need for lubrication and corrosion prevention. Whenever moving parts need both lubrication and corrosion protection, a product, which can do both, should be used. Ballistol is a universal lubricant and corrosion inhibitor, which can be used on any type of metal as well as on all plastics, wood, leather and rubber without damage to these materials. BALLISTOL works especially well In a salt water environment due to the fact that – unlike some competing products – It will not attract salt.

What can Ballistol do that other products can’t?

Ballistol is non-toxic. It is not harmful or fatal if ingested or absorbed by the human skin and it will not kill warm-blooded animals, reptiles or aquatic life forms. Ballistol does not contain any known carcinogens. As an aerosol, it is free of CFCs. Ballistol conforms with the criteria set by the Federal Trade Commission for the claim of biodegradability.

Ballistol is mildly alkaline and therefore capable of not only inhibiting normal corrosion (oxidation) but also acidic, galvanic and salt(water) corrosion.

Ballistol emulsifies with water. Even in a very low concentration Ballistol, when mixed with water, will still retain its capability to lubricate. Since it does not float on top of the water it will not prevent its dissipation. Due to its emulsifiability Ballistol can be applied to any material, even when it is wet. Ballistol can be used as a cleaner in pure form as well as emulsified with water in various concentrations.

Ballistol will positively never ever gum up or harden. Many competing products lubricate well – initially. However, they have a tendency to harden and resinify to the point where they not only lose their lubricity, but they actually turn into the equivalent of a glue.

What can you do with Ballistol in and around your Aircraft?

Rubber bearings can be cleaned with Ballistol. This will also have a positive effect on the rubber, since occasional contact with Ballistol will slow down the aging of rubber parts. Ballistol works remarkably well in the lubrication of bail bearings and pitch change bearings on helicopters.

Ballistol can be used to clean soot off the skin of aircraft and to clean and maintain turbine wheels on jet airplanes. Ballistol cleans leather and vinyl interiors and rejuvenates the look of wood appliances. When applied on helicopter blade pins, Ballistol guarantees easy removal. It also prevents bolts and nuts from seizing. Ballistol stops hinges and any other moving mechanical links from squeaking and binding. Cabin doors, baggage compartment doors etc. can be lubricated lastingly with Ballistol. Ballistol is ideal for the lubrication and maintenance of braided steel cables and pulleys. Due to its low surface tension, Ballistol creeps along cables to reach areas to which you may not have direct or easy access. Lubricate your aircraft¡¯s controls with Ballistol for smoother and steadier action. Ailerons and flaps and the associated mechanisms can be kept in smooth operating condition with Ballistol.

Ballistol can be used to lubricate and protect any exposed non-anodized metallic part on any aircraft. It can also be used to lubricate, protect and maintain all tooling, and gauges. In addition you can use it on boots, gloves, belts and other leather gear.

Ballistol has a very low electrical conductivity. In pure form it is safe to use on electrical equipment. Ballistol can be mixed with rinse water and be used to wash down an airplane or helicopter. It will leave a very thin oily film behind which will make it difficult for dirt or salt to attach itself.

When freshly applied, Ballistol has a distinct smell and taste. After approx. 20-25 minutes of exposure to air, Ballistol turns into a practically tasteless and odorless substance.

Warning:
Ballistol may kill small insects such as ticks, mites, fleas, aphids, lice, wasps, bees, hornets and mosquitoes.
