When we talk about polluting or protecting
the environment or nature we imply that that we need to do something to
stop its destruction. We keep forgetting that nature can assume many
different forms, whereas mankind and other life forms need a very
specific type of nature to continue to exist. When we talk about
polluting or protecting nature we are really talking about our own
survival on this planet.
It appears to be in our own best interest
not to unload too many pollutants into nature, into the soil, the water
and the atmosphere, so as to prevent nature from changing to a point of
no return from which the survivability of mankind would be threatened.
In judging from what we know about the
market for general lubricants such as WD-40, Liquid Wrench, CRC,
Tri-Flow or similar products, the vast majority have "Harmful or Fatal
if Swallowed" written on the panel somewhere. We must assume that
individual and industrial consumers worldwide dispense approximately
35-40 million gallons of these lubricants per year into the environment.
The warning, "Harmful or Fatal if
Swallowed" means that this product, if ingested by a human, warm-blooded
animal or reptile, is highly toxic and has the capability to kill these
beings just like poison. Most of these substances do not mix with water
and are either not biodegradable or decompose very slowly, when spilled
into nature.
Millions of consumers, who use these
lubricants almost daily, do not, of course, think that they are
'spilling' these products into nature. As they see it, they are applying
them on a padlock, bicycle chain, door hinge or scissors. They are
unaware that, regardless of where, when, how, and on what they use a
lubricant, any lubricant, it ends up in the air, the soil or the water
in one way or the other - sooner or later.
Most of these toxic lubricants are
petroleum derivatives, i.e. they they are derived from crude oil. The
Exxon Valdes Information Center reports that approx. 10.8 million
gallons of crude oil spilled into the ocean, when the Exxon Valdes hit
that rock, causing one of the worst environmental catastrophes in
history. Yet, each year consumers spill approx. 35 million gallons of
toxic petroleum distillates into the environment! That is the equivalent
of three Exxon Valdes disaster each year, yet no newspaper mentions it
or TV station reports about it.
The decision is in your hands: you can
choose to continue to use toxic products or you can begin to use
Ballistol... now. Ballistol is a lubricant which is non-toxic,
non-carcinogenic and biodegradable. It will not contaminate our
environment. It's use will contribute significantly to preserving the
nature that we and other beings on earth need, in order to survive.
For nature's sake and your own,
make the smart choice. Use safe and non-toxic products. Use Ballistol!
